GEL - 308 L |
Coding : AWS A/SFA 5.4 E 308 L-16 |
Characteristics : |
GEL – 308 is a extra low-carbon 19/10 stainless steel electrode with controlled ferrite content of 3 to 7% for maximum resistance to cracking, corrosion and high temperatures up content up to 800˚ C. Carbon content as low as 0.028% eliminates the possibility of inter-crystalline corrosion in the temperature range of 425˚ C to 843˚C. The weld-metal has excellent creep strength and is of radiographic quality. The electrode operates either on alternating current on direct current, reverse polarity. Especially noted for arc stability, and low spatter loss. All sizes strike and re-strike easily. The slag is easily controlled and does not interfere with the arc action. Weld beads are smooth, uniform and of excellent appearance. The electrode can be used in any position without difficulty. |
Application : |
For the welding of 18/8 stainless steels represented by AISI types 301, 302, 304 and 308 having very low carbon content. Used in food industries & Hospital apparels. |

GEL - 106 |
Coding : AWS A/SFA 5.4 E 312 -16 |
Characteristics : |
GEL – 106 is a medium – heavy coated, rutile type all position electrode giving 30/10 deposited which has excellent oxidation resistance. The weld-metal has a two-phase structure with substantial amount of ferrite in the austenitic matrix. The deposited weld-metal is highly resistant to weld-metal cracks and fissures. Gives a quiet and stable arc, low-spatter, smooth weld-bead and easily detachable slag. The weld-metal meets radiographic, X-ray, Ultrasonic and other code requirements. |
Application : |
GEL – 106 is used for welding difficult to weld steels e.g. high carbon hard enable tool, die and spring steels, 13% mm Steels, free cutting steels, high temperature steels. Dissimilar joints between stainless steel and high carbon steels. Surfacing of metal to metal wear areas, hot working tools, furnace components. Due to high ferrite content and high cracking resistance suitable for problem steels with higher strength such as pressing dies and trimming tools. |
